Choosing the solitary life that Whale Back Lighthouse demands requires a unique individual. After years of service in the Norwegian Navy, Jorgen Nielsen joined Katadesis in 1905 and collaborated with them for a decade. To Chu, Jorgen is a steadfast and loyal friend. However, even for him, certain shadows from Jorgen’s past remain unspoken.

Jorgen’s weary face turned towards Chu. ‘When do you plan on telling him? He has a right to know.’ Chu studied his friend for a moment. ‘What he has a right to know and what is beneficial for him to know are two separate matters. Surely, you can understand that.’
