Circuses enjoyed immense popularity in the 1930s. The most famous Barnum and Bailey’s “Greatest Show on Earth” required 90 train carriages to transport it from state to state. Many smaller circuses also toured America and Europe, with their arrivals in towns becoming significant events. Animal menageries, exotically painted wagons, and vibrant costumes provided a welcome escape from the harsh realities of everyday life.

The Circus of Wonders traverse the globe, and their unique talents make them ideal agents for Katadesis on covert missions, allowing them to travel incognito. Such is their reputation that heads of state and political leaders request their performances. Professor Chu accompanied them several times, perfecting an illusionist act called “Mysteries of the East,” which became a favourite of Stalin’s.
